I've been getting into film photography recently. Film is one of those pursuits that, when taken in isolation, doesn't make sense. The photographs are of worse quality, errors are permanent and even if you like the ‘film look’ editing tools are so good now that you can apply a LUT or Filter and get to something indistinguishable from a film photograph in a few seconds. It's also expensive.
But that's taken in isolation. The process of shooting with film is such a different experience to shooting with an iPhone it feels like a different medium entirely. I enjoy the process of buying the film from my local studio, the forced intentionality when shooting, the expectation when you receive the prints.
It might not be logical but I know I take more photos now, and enjoy the act of photography, which I couldn't say before.
